Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Basics & Beyond Blog Tour

Today I have the great honor of participating in the Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Basics & Beyond blog tour.  I will be showing you a little peek of what is inside one of the newest books from Annie's Attic.

I have to admit, from the day I saw this particular book I could hardly wait to get my hands on a copy. As most of you probably already know, I am a huge fan of not only the publisher of this book but also my Spellbinders™ dies. If you scroll through my blog you will see that I use Spellbinders™ dies on practically every project I create and have even designed stamp set for Gina K Designs that coordinate with these awesome dies, so I knew it would be a must have for my creative library.

The book project I have to show you today is called Mother's Day Tea (pg44) and was created by designer Terre Fry.

There is so much to say about this project. First off, I love the vintage feel of the whole ensemble. This style is something I am not very good at so always love to see and try to learn from. The set includes a card, invitation and place card with the typical large clear photographs and step by step detailed instructions typical of Annie's Attic publications.

This particular party set uses four different Spellbinders™  Nestabilities® die sets and one Borderabilities die set along with the Grand Calibur™ die cutting system. The dies used are Long Scalloped Rectangles Lg, Petite Scalloped Ovals SM, Petite Ovals SM, Standard Circles SM, and Big Scalloped Border Borderbilities.

The oval dies in particular have been used in a variety of ways to show not only the creativity of the designer but the versatility of the dies. As you can tell by the photo, the place card (top left) is not the typical square/rectangular design. It was created in an oval shape. This kind of shaped card is super easy with the Spellbinders™ dies. The ovals were cut in half to create perfectly rounded flaps for the invitation; and, for the card they were used to cut out and mat a focal image. This technique is another area that makes Spellbinders™ dies stand out about the rest. With the patented open centers you are able to place the dies perfectly centered over a stamped or printed image before cutting and get the exact placement the first time.

You will notice that the embossing featured on every piece in the photo (and throughout the book) is very crisp and clean. This is truly representative of that which can be created with the use of Spellbinders™ dies in conjunction with the Grand Calibur™ die cutting machine.

This book has not only a six page section on using the dies and special techniques but also features helpful tips throughout. One tip that was shown on the Mother's Day Tea page but not shown in the image above reads: Did You Know? You can choose to only emboss with a Spellbinder's die template? That is one feature of these dues that I totally love, especially as a "clean and simple" designer. Below is a sample in which I used the featured tip of "embossing only".  I created this quick and easy card to showcase my "Live Life Loud"  stamp set that will be released on Thursday evening by Gina K Designs. Notice the crisp clean border? It was created with Spellbinders dies! I placed the die on the inside of the card for this particular border but you can place it on the outside when embossing and get yet another look.
