Well, it's a bit cool here with rain and temperatures in the 60's but, thankfully, still a far cry from the cold Winter days that will be here in months to come. I am not a fan of winter whatsoever but I *am* a fan of snowmen and snowflake images...and red. So today I combined the two for Sizzix's Christmas In July event!
I'm still a novice at sewing but, even for me, this pillow was SUPER EASY using the Sizzix Pro Snowflake die.
1/2 yard JoAnn's red dotted fabric
13 x 13-inch piece of white felt
Sizzix Pro Snowflake die
Sizzix Big Shot Pro
Therm O Web Heat'n Bond Ultra
Sewing machine with red thread
I like to start by prewashing my fabric so it doesn't bleed or shrink when I'm done. Especially for reds like this.
Once you have your fabric washed and pressed, cut two pieces of fabric 1" larger than the size you want your finished pillow. For my sample I used two 13 x 13-inch pieces. With right-sides together stitch the panels together using a 1/2-inch seam and leaving a 2 to 3-inch opening. Turn the panel right side out.
Following the manufacturer's instructions, attach Heat N Bond to the back of your felt using your iron.
Die-cut the Sizzix Pro Snowflake shape from the felt by placing die onto an appropriately sized Cutting Pad. Place felt on top of the die. Place another appropriately sized Cutting Pad on top of the fabric create a “sandwich”. Run through machine. Remove the paper backing and iron snowflake design onto pillow front according to manufacturer's instructions.
Finally, stuff your pillow and hand stitch the opening closed and there you have it!
And don't stop there! This die is perfect for wall art, quilts and vinyl designs that will dress up any holiday decor!
