Create It Simply: Recycled Can Embellishments Using Sizzix Dies

One thing I love about Bigz dies from Sizzix is the ability to die-cut a variety of materials. One of those materials being metal. For today's project I did just that--I turned an empty aluminum can into an unique embellishment for a card!

Here's just hoe simple it is:

To begin, cut a piece from an aluminum can slightly larger than the shape to be die-cut.

Die-cut the shape using your favorite Bigz die. For this project I chose to use the Heartfelt die from the Tim Holtz line.

Next add a little texture by embossing it with your favorite embossing folder. I used the Retro Circles folder.

This is what you'll end up with!

Now add a little Patina ink...

Let dry and sand. That's it! You now have a custom embellishment to use as you please.

But don't stop there! The possibilities are endless, this technique is great for jewelry and home decor as well! For larger pieces simply use aluminum pie pans and trays.
