Shine Bright with the Quick and Easy All Occasion Card

Good Morning! Time for another quick and easy card design. I am once again using the Tim Holtz Thinlits Mixed Media die set and my new Verve stamps. After I finished the card, I realized the Stephanie Ackerman star die is no longer available. Being a popular shape, if you don't already have it you can substitute your favorite star die or charm in its place.

Below you'll find the complete supply list, step-by-step instructions and a list of tips for this project. If you have any questions or comments just leave me a note and I'll be sure to get back to you!

Also, if you missed yesterday's card using this die set, Tuesday's post using this stamp set or the Handmade Holidays Hop be sure and scroll down for those as well!

Supplies:
Light gray cardstock
Authentique patterned paper pad
Verve Let it Be Stamp set
Clearsnap poolside ink pad
Natural twine
Buttons Galore and More 28 Lilac Lane Let it Snow embellishment kit
Light blue self-adhesive rhinestones
MISTI stamping tool
Sizzix dies*: Thinlits Mixed Media, Star
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®: EZ runner, Adhesive sheets

Instructions:

  • Form a 4.25 x 5.5-inch top-fold card from gray cardstock.
  • Cut a piece of light blue text print paper slightly smaller than card front; attach adhesive sheet to back of panel.
  • Using photo as a guide, die-cut Mixed Media shape from text print panel; remove adhesive backing and attach to light blue patterned paper. Trim edges evenly; adhere to card front.
  • Stamp sentiment onto card front.
  • Die-cut star shape from yellow patterned paper; adhere to card front.
  • Embellish card front with rhinestones
  • Wrap card with twine; tie button to twine as shown.

*Ideas to note:

--Before die-cutting intricate designs such as the
Mixed Media pattern attach an adhesive sheet to the back of your paper. Once die-cut, peel off the backing and attach to project.

--Use the Sizzix Magnetic Platform to hold dies in the desired position for die-cutting.

--Use the Sizzix Die Brush with foam pad to thoroughly remove small areas from designs with many small pieces.

--Layer patterned papers together and trim to same size to add a colorful pattern below Mixed Media patterns.

*Use the following Sizzix sandwiches when die-cutting the pieces:
Thinlits Mixed Media:
Magnetic Platform, a Standard Cutting Pad,  paper, die (cutting side down), and, finally, the second Standard Cutting Pad
