Create Quick and Easy Watercolor Wishes for Winter

Hi all!! I can't believe it's already almost 2 weeks into 2017! If you follow me on Instagram you've probably noticed I've been working on quite a few projects since the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, it seems I have way more time to snap a quick "work in progress" photo here and there than to type up a complete blog post and when I do have a blog post it is typically on a company blog. But I am working on getting things shared here as well, even if just a short update. Huge thanks to the three loyal readers that have stuck with me and my sporadic posting. ;)

Now for one of my latest projects--

Supplies:
Cardstock: purple, blue
Watercolor paper
Vellum
Clearsnap ink pads: Cornflower, Plum
Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wishes stamp set
Buttons Galore and More Attic Findings embellishment kit
Silver metallic thread
Waterbrush
Non-stick craft mat
MISTI stamping tool
Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 14PK - Paper Snowflakes, Mini
Sizzix Extended Magnetic Platform
Sizzix Big Shot Plus
Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L®- EZ Runner, 3D Foam Squares, DODZ mini

Instructions:

-Form 4 1/4 x 5 1/2-inch card from purple cardstock.

-Cut a piece of watercolor paper slightly smaller than card front. Wipe ink pads onto craft mat. Use waterbrush to brush plum ink onto panel as shown. Use waterbrush to flick cornflower ink on to surface.

-Now you will want to sit the panel aside to dry. One of the biggest issues and frustrations I have had with watercolors is the paper curling as in the photo below. I finally figured the remedy to this--place a heavy object on it such as a book or box then let it dry. I actually let mine dry a couple days because I forgot about it. :P

-Once the panel is dry, adhere it you your card front. Place in MISTI stamp positioner and stamp sentiment using cornflower ink.

-Die-cut snowflake shapes from both teal cardstock and vellum. I like to use my magnetic platform and die-cut both pieces at the same time with a single pass.

-You should now have two snowflakes. Curl edges as desired for added dimension.

-Attach teal snowflake to card front using 3D foam squares.

-Attach vellum snowflake to previous snowflake using mini DODZ.

-Thread button with silver thread; attach to snowflake center using 3D DODZ.

-Using mini DODZ, embellish card front with sequins.
