You'll LOVE making this easy DIY felt bookmark

After a couple hospital episodes, a new grandbaby, a wedding and Thanksgiving, things seemed to finally have gotten back to "normal". I'm pretty excited about this because I'm ready for some Christmas and Winter DIY projects! Not only that, I even have some product reviews to share.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I recently got a new shipment of Sizzix dies. One thing in that package was the new planner stamps and dies from Katelyn Lizardi. I have to say that Katelyn's lines are quickly becoming my favorite lines. So many fun designs! For the project I have today I used the new die Sizzix Thinlits Die set--Planner Bookmark. This die has so many possibilities!

The great thing about Sizzix dies is that you can die-cut a variety of materials other than paper. One of those being felt! Something about designing with felt always appeals to me this time of year. So, that is what I used for my bookmark.

Supplies:
Felt: Dark red, gray
White silk ribbon
Red burlap string Red sequins
Sizzix Thinlits Die set--Planner Bookmark
Big Shot Plus
Extended Magnetic Platform
Extended Cutting Pad
Therm-o-Web Heat and Bond or craft glue

Before you begin, I have an optional step of attaching iron on adhesive to the back of your red felt. This step is totally up to your preference. I like to use Therm-o-Web Heat and Bond because then I am sure to get all of the intricate designs attached. You can also use craft glue, if you prefer.

First you will want to die-cut the bookmark shape from red felt. Once you have done that you will place the heart cutout die onto the pieces as shown below and run it through your Big Shot. Save the little hearts for other projects!

Next, die-cut the "love" piece from the top. Simply place it over your red bookmark as shown below lining up the edge with the top edge of the bookmark.

You should now have a piece like the one below.

Next, you will want to cut the bookmark base from gray felt as shown below. Then, just as with the red piece, die-cut the word "love" at the top. By lining up the top edge of the die the same way on both pieces they should align perfectly when layered!

Once both pieces are die-cut, simply layer and adhere together with your favorite craft glue or iron on adhesive, as mentioned previously.. Wrap the bookmark with ribbon, tie on a charm with twine and embellish with sequins as desired.

And there you have it!
