When I was a kid I loved to color. I still remember how excited I would be to have $2.50 so I could go buy a coloring book and box of 64 crayons (with a built-in sharpener!!). So when I received the new Just for You Sendables Coloring Book by Katelyn Lizardi,  it was like being a kid all over again. Plus, by combining this with the new Sizzix Thinlits Hello Friend Gatefold card set, I was able to create something I could use to brighten someone else's day as well.

To create this card, begin by selecting your desired image and coloring medium. I chose to use the "Love You Lots" design shown above and color it using alcohol markers. Once finished, cut out along the marker border.

For the card base I used the Hello Friend Gatefold card set and used the usual Sizzix sandwich of  Extended Magnetic Platform, a Extended Cutting Pad,  patterned paper, desired die (cutting side down), and, finally, the second Extended Cutting Pad. Note, when placing the paper onto your extended magnetic platform, place the pattern that you want to show on the card outside (hello pattern) face-down.

The Hello Friend Gatefold die not only die-cuts your card but also scores it, so once you die-cut the design, simply fold the side panels inward. In addition to the card base you will also die-cut the inside panel (green) using the included die. This will give you the three pieces shown above.

Now, simply adhere the green panel to the inside of the card and attach the colored image to the card front. When attaching the image you will want to adhere it to one side panel only so that the card can be opened and closed. I like to use 3D Foam Squares for added interest.

Another thing to note is that if coloring your image with markers, as I did, you may have ink showing through on the back of the panel.

It is simple to remedy this situation by cutting a piece of cardstock the same size as the exposed area and adhering it to the back of the panel to cover the ink.

And there you have! Quick and easy with the help of these great Sizzix products!
