My Retirement and Five Creative Goals for 2018

The last several months have brought about many changes in both life and my creative journey.

In my personal life, I'm thrilled to say we have added both a grandson and a daughter-in-law to our family. I'll be telling you more about them in the near future. My daughter-in-law has degrees in both Art and Graphic design, so you'll be seeing her work around here soon. As some of you know, I homeschool. With two kids married and on their own and two wrapping up high school that leaves me with just my 3rd grader who needs close supervision...and lots more free time.

As far as my creative life, some adventures have come to an end. In December I found out that after 13 years working on a variety of projects with CardMaker magazine that the Winter 2017 issue was the final issue. So, at this point, I will no longer be working on projects for publication.

This month marks 5 years since I joined the Sizzix design team. This is also another area where I will be moving on. You'll still be seeing projects using the MANY dies from my 5 years of collecting, but they will simply be what I'm calling "hobby projects" instead of design team assignments.

So, where does this leave me? Well, I am stepping back and looking at the vast landscape of possibilities.

While I do work with DecoArt, I'm no longer on any design teams or have any monthly commitments.  (Although, I am considering applying for a few guest designer spots, after-all, old habits die hard. lol)

I love arts and crafts. No escaping that fact. So....

In honor of my supportive husband and his love of YouTube click bait.. 😜

5 Creative Goals for 2018

  1. Continue to use and share all the products that I've been using for years as well as any new favorites I find.
  2. Continue making paper projects--scrapbooks, cards, project life, planners. Because even after 20+ years, I still love paper. Clean and Simple, as always.
  3. Explore and experiment more with both paint and fabric.
  4. Lots of Pinterest inspired home decor projects. Once, the weather warms up those projects are going to extend out into lawn and garden.
  5. Down-sizing of my craft supplies. I'll be donating a lot of it and selling some of what I no longer need.

Basically, I'm going wherever the path may lead...and it will be far from boring!! I hope you will continue to join me!
